The SAE World Congress Annual Banquet was held last month, and Nissan execs were in attendance. In fact, Nissan Chief Technology Officer Toshiyuki Shiga made a special announcement at the conference, stating that the company will donate $250k to the organization's A World in Motion program.
The SAE International organization, or the Society of Automotive Engineers for short, supports the AWIM program each year. This program is an award-winning, industry volunteer-assisted, teacher-administered program that focuses on bringing the fields of math, engineering, science, and technology "to life" for students enrolled in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Since 1990, more than four million students have taken part in the program in all 50 states and several Canadian territories and provinces.
Carla Bailo, Senior Vice President of Research and Development for Nissan Americas, states, "Nissan is proud to partner with the SAE Foundation to sustain the roll-out of the A World in Motion curriculum. We live in a technology-based world, so giving children the tools they need to help them understand science and math concepts is vitally important. These innovative materials may help to launch a new generation of engineers, scientists, and problem solves.1
